Enlisted under the name Leonard Richard BOXSELL and his birth was registered in NSW as BOXELL. Len was the 2nd son of 8 children (6 boys) born to William BOXSELL and Mary Ann RICKETT. Roman Catholic 5ft 7.5ins tall Fair complexion Grey eyes and dark hair QER 1915 Lived at Nambour - Labourer (registered 17 Sept 1914) Appointed to A section, 7th Field Ambulance on 7 May 1915 The Chronicle of 14 May 1915 p5, documents a double farewell at Rosemount to William Prentis and Leonard Boxsell and a presentation of inscribed gold mounted fountain pen and cheque. Len Boxsell enlisted in the Infantry at Enoggera. "Being a good horseman, Mr Boxsell would have liked to enlist in the mounted forces but this would have meant a delay in getting away of about three months whereas the next infantry regiments expect to get away inside a month." Nambour Chronicle 30.4.15, p5.
