Next of Kin: Agnes Mary Corvesor –Mother of Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England and/or John William Corvesor –Brother.Edward Corvesor was a teamster and farmer before his enlistment in the Army. He embarked for overseas 27 October 1916 on board HMAT A74 Marathon to land at Plymouth three long seasick months later.
His battalion proceeded to France via Codford to join the Allied troops defence. By January 1918, Corvesor was withdrawn from the front to attend the Australian Division of the Signal School of Instruction but by April 1918 he had been gassed in the field and was admitted to Tooting Military hospital in England.
Corvesor returned to Australia 09 March 1919 and received his discharge 10 June 1919. He married Ellen “Nell” Mary O'Rourke 17 December 1924 at “Breffney”, Pinbarren, Queensland, and they made their home on the Sunshine Coast. Ellen died 19 December 1942 and was buried in Old Nambour Cemetery.
Edward Michael Corvesor’s death in 1988 was noted on his army records.
