The Chronicle 8 February 1918, p3 Honours List reported Gnr Arthur JE Burkin of Eudlo killed in action.

Arthur John Edward Burkin, a storekeeper in Eudlo, enlisted for Service Abroad in the Australian Military Forces on 25 November 1916 aged 22 years. He served (Service no. 3035) with the 4th Infantry Battalion, 7th Reinforcements and embarked at Sydney for overseas service aboard the HMAT A18 Wiltshire on 7 February 1917. He was killed in action in the field in Belgium on 3 October 1917, aged 23 years
