Reginald was born in Gympie, Qld. and was aged 21 years 2 months when he enlisted at Brisbane on 28th April, 1916 a Clerk. He previous experience was 3 years with the Senior Cades and 2 years with The Engineers. He named his Mother Mrs Eileen Little of Cooroy, Qld. as his next of kin. He was posted to the 11th Depot as a Private from 6th June, 1916 to 28th November, 1916 and made Driver on 2nd December, 1916. On 20th February 1917 he was posted to 9th F A B as a Gunner. He embarked from Melbourne Ex "Shropshire" on 11th May, 1917 and disembarked at Plymouth, England on 19th July, 1917. He was charged with disobeying orders (Refused to take his hands from his pockets when ordered to do so) on 26th November, 1917 at Clifton and forfeited 3 days pay. He was posted over to France from Folkston on 6th December, 1917.He was wounded in action in France on 9th August, 1918 with gun shot wounds to both legs and index finger and was invalided to England to U.K. Edmonton Military Hospital and was discharge from hospital on 7th November, 1918, He returned to Australia Ex "Ulysses" on 4th March, 1919 and was discharged on 8th August, 1919.
